Community Relations

Mountaire in the Community

“To continually develop and maintain a positive and credible standing for Mountaire Farms Incorporated with its employees, its growers, in the communities, in the marketplace and within the geographic areas in which it functions.”
– From the Community Relations Department’s Mission Statement

Feeding Families

Mountaire Farms partners with local food banks and organizations to help feed those in need during the holidays and throughout the year.

  • As a leader in community outreach projects, we help facilitate food distribution efforts through churches, food banks, and other organizations.
  • Food pantries in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and Arkansas receive food on a bi-monthly basis through our efforts.
  • In both Delmarva and North Carolina, events such as Thanksgiving for Thousands distribute record numbers of food boxes through local non-profit organizations.

Improving Lives

Mountaire Farms supports many events and programs designed to improve the lives of those in our communities and the wider community across the United States and around the world. Helping people in need, promoting faith-based initiatives, and furthering education are some of the key areas in which we focus our resources and efforts. Through these endeavors we are able to help our communities in various ways, including:

  • Providing support, relief, housing, utilities and medicine to individuals and families in crisis situations.
  • Caring for the homeless and teaching skills needed to obtain employment.
  • Promoting literacy and learning through comprehensive education for economically challenged students.
  • Promoting an understanding of the benefits of economic and religious freedoms.
  • Sharing the love of Jesus and encouraging reconciliation to God and to our fellow man.

Thanksgiving for Thousands 2017

October 18th, 2017

For more than 20 years, Mountaire Farms has been feeding families on Delmarva at Thanksgiving and throughout the year. The annual Thanksgiving for Thousands Food Drive has become a story unto itself - one that is making a positive difference along the Eastern Shore. On Saturday, November 4th, volunteers will partner with local participating stores to collect food donations. These individuals will hand out lists of food items which shoppers can purchase and donate at the following stores: Giant Stores - Rehoboth Beach, Long Neck, Millville; Safeway Store - Rehoboth Beach; Hocker’s Super Center – Clarksville, Bethany Beach; Wal-Mart – Rehoboth Beach, Georgetown, Berlin; Redner’s – West and North Dover, Georgetown, Camden, Milford; Save-A-Lot – Millsboro, Seaford. Then, on Monday, November 20th from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., volunteers will meet at the Selbyville warehouse to pack the donated food - along with a Mountaire chicken roaster - and organize boxes for distribution. During the packing, WGMD will be broadcasting remotely. Check out the website at www.wgmd.com. This is one of the great food distribution events of the year, and we invite you to be part of a team that has helped so many in our community. If you would like to help those less fortunate have a Thanksgiving meal this year, please consider joining our volunteer team.
