Photo Gallery Mountaire volunteers spend time at local fairs and community events, often volunteering to assist other industry organizations and agricultural groups. On this day at the DE State Fair the Mountaire Cares team spent time educating the public about the importance of the Chicken Industry and even had a surprise visit from DE Governor John Carney, DE Secretary of AgricultuMichael Scuse, and USDA Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. Promoting agriculture and bringing awareness to the hard working men and women that grow our food is an important part of our community engagement. Mountaire growers often raise chicken that is then donated to support local events. Donating chicken to causes that help support community fundraisers is another example of how Mountaire strives to utilize their resources to impact change in the Community. Annually Mountaire supports the Best Wings on the Shore contest, which has helped to raise over $25,000 for student scholarships. Mountaire Farms partnered with Cooking for Christ to provide a chicken lunch to law enforcement in Statesville and Iredell County. Mountaire Farms is the leading sponsor of the NC Peach Festival in Candor NC in addition to walking in the parade and having a booth to educate about the company and poultry industry. Mountaire employees volunteered to clean up Fitzgerald Park in Candor NC leading up to the annual “Christmas in Candor” event. Mountaire and it’s employees raised $4,500 in October 2023 for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This initiative was led by Mountaire employee, and cancer survivor, Bruce Mooney. Partnering with organizations that do good in our community is just one way our Mountaire Cares program gives back. Mountaire employees volunteered at the Candor Elementary School Field Day to educate the upcoming generation on the agriculture and poultry industries. Chickin Pickin is a Mountaire tradition allowing the public to compete for cash prizes while learning about Chicken and having some wholesome family fun (Delmarva Chicken Festival). Annual Farm & Food Planning Seminar hosted by the Delaware Council on Farm & Food Policy. Mountaire supported the first inaugural Delaware Grown Culinary Challenge where restaurant chefs collaborated with culinary students from across the state in a timed cookoff, that was streamed live. Of course the center of the plate and star of the show was Mountaire Chicken. Chaplain Ruth Munoz Basel volunteered to help shuttle people around at the Town of Selbyville’s annual community event. Sometimes the most rewarding part of being a volunteer are the friendly faces you meet and the conversations you share throughout the day. We recognize how critical our first responders are to the safety of our staff and our communities. Mountaire Cares is proud to support local Fire, Police, and EMS by providing donations for important resources that can be used in emergency situations.
